Who’s the Leaker in the Trump Transition Team?

Updated: Nov 19, 2024

Vanity Fair published an article citing a "transition source" about an alleged sexual misconduct involving Pete Hegseth, Trump’s nominee for Defense Secretary.

Susie Wiles, Trump's incoming chief of staff, was briefed about the allegation against Pete Hegseth. The alleged incident took place in Monterey, California in 2017.

A meeting occurred on Thursday between Pete Hegseth, Trump’s lawyers, and Susie Wiles to discuss the sexual misconduct allegation.

Pete Hegseth’s attorney, Timothy Parlatore, stated that the allegation was investigated by the Monterey police department with no evidence found.

Trump’s communications director, Steven Cheung, defended Hegseth, stating that he has denied all accusations, no charges were filed, and they look forward to his confirmation.

Vanity Fair cited a "senior transition source" claiming that Hegseth was vetted but the sexual misconduct allegation did not come up during this vetting process.
