Enrique Tarrio was arrested on February 21, 2025, outside the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.

The U.S. Capitol Police stated that Tarrio was arrested for "simple assault." Reports indicate Tarrio allegedly struck a protester’s phone and/or arm during an altercation following a press conference.


Tarrio was reportedly at the Capitol grounds participating in or following a press conference with other individuals associated with the January 6, 2021, including notable figures like Stewart Rhodes, Joe Biggs, Ethan Nordean, Zachary Rehl, and Dominic Pezzola. Protesters were present during this event; one reportedly approached Tarrio too closely which lead to the altercation and ultimately, his arrest.


Tarrio allegedly swiped at or knocked a phone out of a protester’s hand, which prompted his arrest. Some assert he was "defending himself" from a "violent protester," though official police statements do not confirm the protester’s actions beyond the context of the assault charge.


Tarrio, previously convicted of seditious conspiracy related to the events of January 6, 2021. He was sentenced to 22 years in prison in September 2023 and later pardoned by President Trump on January 20, 2025, shortly after Trump’s return to office and released from Prison.


As of the latest updates on February 21, 2025, Tarrio was taken into custody by Capitol Police. No further details on his release, bail, or formal charges beyond "simple assault" have been confirmed at the time of this writing.
