Ed Martin Assaulter Faces New Charges After Tweet Rant and Threats to Interim DC US Attorney Jeanine Pirro

Initial Assault Incident:

On May 8, 2025, Emily Gabriella Sommer, a 32-year-old resident of the District of Columbia, allegedly spat on then-interim U.S. Attorney Ed Martin during a video-recorded interview with Newsmax.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. in front of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the 600 block of D Street Northwest, Washington, D.C.

Sommer reportedly shouted, “Who the f-- are you?” before confirming Martin’s identity, saying, “Are you Ed Martin? You are. Ed Martin,” and then spitting on his shoulder.

As she walked away, Sommer yelled, “You are a disgusting man. F--- you, Ed Martin. My name is Emily Gabriella Sommer, and you are served.”

Sommer claimed responsibility for the act in subsequent X posts, stating, “Fuck you, Ed Martin. My name is Emily Gabriella SOMMER, and you are served.”

Legal Action Following the Assault:

On May 22, 2025, Emily Gabriella Sommer was arrested by the Justice Department.

She was charged with one count of assaulting, resisting, or impeding a government official under 18 U.S.C. § 111.

The complaint was announced by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro and Acting U.S. Marshal Ron Carter of the District Court for the District of Columbia.

Another post targeted Martin: “Quite actually urgent request for assistance of any and all types. My property has essentially been seized and I do not have the basic necessities nor money to provide for myself nor my dog. Fuck you, Ed… but since you’ve once again made me hostage in this city, I’ll make sure it eats you alive and spits you back out, like the felony ‘assault’ you’ve alleged, wit your punk-ass-bitch-cuckold-neo-neo-neo-no-brained-Neanderthal (no shade to actual non-Sapiens) cracka ass, jive-turkey redneck from the Midwest.”

These posts were cited by the Justice Department as a violation of Sommer’s release conditions, which typically prohibit contact with victims or witnesses in ongoing cases.
