Trump Hits Pause Button on Ukraine Funding!

President Donald Trump's administration has taken a decisive step to halt foreign aid spending, including military assistance to Ukraine, for 90 days. This bold move comes as Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued new guidance Friday, effectively hitting the brakes on most foreign aid programs.
While military funding for Egypt and Israel will continue, Ukraine finds itself in a different category. Rubio’s guidance has left deep-state bureaucrats within the State Department reportedly “shocked,” with one insider describing the decision as going “nuclear” on foreign assistance.
According to Politico, Rubio’s directive requires “stop-work orders” on nearly all existing foreign aid awards, freezing funds already approved by Congress. This order appears to go even further than Trump’s recent executive order, which called for a 90-day review of foreign aid grants.
This shift represents a stark contrast to the Biden administration's reckless spending spree. Under Joe Biden, nearly $200 billion in aid and military assistance was funneled into Ukraine, even as American citizens faced skyrocketing inflation, economic hardship, and a worsening crisis at the southern border. Just last fall, Biden green-lit an astounding $8 billion in military aid during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s Washington visit.
For perspective, since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Congress has approved a staggering $175 billion in aid, much of it military-related. While proponents argue that these funds benefit a range of Ukrainian institutions, from refugees to law enforcement, the question remains: At what cost to the American people?
The Trump administration's decision reflects a commitment to prioritize U.S. interests over foreign entanglements. Instead of throwing billions at overseas conflicts, Trump’s "America First" policy focuses on securing our borders, rebuilding our economy, and addressing the needs of everyday Americans.
It’s time to clean up “aisle America” before sending another dime abroad. America First, now and always.
