For weeks, devastating wildfires have swept across Los Angeles County, displacing families, destroying over 16,200 structures, and tragically claiming at least 29 lives as of Monday. While state leaders failed to act decisively, President Trump took bold action, putting Americans first by sending in the U.S. military to address the water crisis at the root of this disaster.
“The United States Military just entered the Great State of California and, under Emergency Powers, TURNED ON THE WATER flowing abundantly from the Pacific Northwest, and beyond,” President Trump announced on Truth Social. “The days of putting a Fake Environmental argument, over the PEOPLE, are OVER.”
This announcement follows President Trump’s signing of an executive order titled “Emergency Measures to Provide Water Resources in California and Improve Disaster Response in Certain Areas.” The order ensures that California firefighters and residents will have access to the water they desperately need to battle and recover from these catastrophic wildfires.
“For weeks, residents of the Los Angeles area have watched raging fires consume their homes, belongings, beloved pets, and cherished memories. Firefighters were helpless due to dry hydrants, empty reservoirs, and years of mismanaged water infrastructure,” the executive order states. “Today, at least 29 people have lost their lives, and thousands more have lost everything. It is in the Nation’s interest to ensure that California has what it needs to prevent and fight these fires and others in the future.”
President Trump’s policy is clear: Americans come first. No longer will radical environmentalist policies sacrifice the safety and well-being of U.S. citizens for the sake of failed ideologies. The order explicitly directs federal agencies to “override disastrous California policies” that have prioritized saving an endangered fish over protecting human lives.
For years, California’s Democrat leadership has drained vital water supplies into the ocean, ostensibly to preserve the Delta Smelt, a fish so elusive it hasn’t even been found in its natural habitat. These misguided policies have left critical aquifers empty and deprived firefighters of the water they need to protect communities. As a result, wildfires have burned out of control, claiming American lives and livelihoods. President Trump has made it clear: This will not happen again.
The order tasks the Secretary of Defense, Attorney General, and other key federal agencies to take all necessary actions to ensure Southern California has the water it needs, overriding state and local policies that have failed the people of California.
During a visit to Los Angeles last Friday, President Trump personally assessed the damage and criticized Democrat Mayor Karen Bass for her inaction and lack of urgency in allowing displaced residents to return to their properties. “It’s time for bold leadership, not more red tape,” Trump declared, vowing to cut through bureaucratic inefficiencies and empower Californians to rebuild their homes and lives.
On Monday night, President Trump delivered a direct message to the people of California: “Enjoy the water, California!!!” His decisive action underscores his unwavering commitment to protecting American lives and livelihoods, no matter the political or environmental obstacles.
This is leadership America can trust. This is putting America First 🇺🇸!
